More Ways to Make a Difference
There are many ways to support WDVR, and not every gift looks the same. In addition to traditional donations and sustaining memberships, you may be able to support the station through other forms of charitable giving that reflect your personal circumstances and financial goals.
Whether you're considering a gift from your retirement account or a contribution of appreciated securities, these options can provide meaningful ways to help sustain WDVR's independent community programming and ensure that Good Music, Good Conversation, and Good Company continue to reach our listeners.
Explore the opportunities below to learn more. We encourage you to consult your financial advisor, tax professional, or other qualified advisor to determine which giving options may be appropriate for your individual circumstances.
IRA Contributions
Turn your retirement assets into a gift that supports community radio.
If you have an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), you may be eligible to support WDVR through a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). A QCD allows eligible individuals to transfer funds directly from an IRA to a qualifying charitable organization, potentially offering tax advantages while supporting a cause they care about.
For those who are subject to required minimum distributions (RMDs), a QCD may count toward satisfying all or part of that annual requirement. Unlike a regular IRA withdrawal followed by a charitable donation, an eligible QCD is generally excluded from taxable income, subject to applicable IRS rules.
A QCD can be a meaningful way to support WDVR while incorporating charitable giving into your broader retirement and financial plans.
Please consult your financial advisor or tax professional to determine your eligibility, confirm that WDVR qualifies to receive your gift, and understand how a QCD may apply to your individual circumstances.
Stock and Appreciated Securities Donations
Share your success by investing in WDVR's future.
Donating stocks or other appreciated securities can be another effective way to support WDVR. Rather than selling investments and donating the proceeds, you may be able to transfer eligible securities directly to the station, potentially providing tax advantages while helping sustain the programming and community connections that make WDVR special.
Depending on your circumstances, donating appreciated securities that you have held for more than one year may allow you to avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation and potentially claim a charitable income tax deduction, subject to applicable rules and limitations.
If you're interested in making a gift of stock or other securities, please contact our office for information about the transfer process before initiating a transaction. We also encourage you to consult your financial advisor or tax professional to determine whether this type of gift is appropriate for you.
Thank you for considering these additional ways to support WDVR. Every contribution helps strengthen our station and the community we serve.
